Norwegian police received facts in December indicating the individual was potentially located in Hungary. Acting on this intelligence, thay enlisted the assistance of Hungary’s FAST team – Fugitive Active Search Teams – a joint initiative supported by Europol Europol.
“There will now be a legal process in Hungary regarding the European arrest warrant that has been issued,” stated police attorney Marie Steen Habberstad of the Oslo Police.”If the Hungarian authorities decide to authorize his extradition, he will then be extradited to Norway.”

The man initially received his eight-year sentence in 2024. He later went on the run before being required to begin serving his term. Norwegian authorities have emphasized the seriousness with which they view individuals attempting to evade justice.
