Will Jon Jones stay Retired?
The question of whether Jon Jones will ever compete in mixed martial arts again remains open, despite recent discussions regarding a potential super fight. Jones has hinted at negotiations for a bout, but his future remains uncertain.
Currently 36 years old (born December 19, 1987), Jones is financially secure outside of fighting and is increasingly involved with his new venture, Dirty Boxing. This has led many to believe a return to the Octagon is unlikely.
While a return to MMA seems improbable, a foray into another combat sport isn’t out of the question. Former rival Daniel Cormier recently proposed a wrestling match, a challenge that may appeal to Jones.
As of January 11, 2024, UFC CEO Dana White has publicly stated he believes Jones will remain retired, citing concerns about Jones’s health and preparedness for a fight against Alex Pereira. White has blocked potential matchups, believing Jones isn’t currently in the right mindset or physical condition to compete at a high level.
