The event is the most important trombone music event in the world, which takes place in a different country every year.
This year, the festival will take place in Eastern Europe for the first time.
The organizers believe that it will be the biggest festival of artists playing an instrument that has ever taken place in Latvia.
The event, which will take place from July 29 to August 1, will gather more than 500 trombonists, educators, composers and music industry professionals from different countries of the world.
The main venues will be the Riga Latvian Society House and the Jāzeps Vītolas Academy of Music of Latvia, some concerts are also planned at the Riga Cathedral.
The festival program includes the participation of world-class artists and composers:
performances by Swedish trombonist Christian Lindberg, Dutch composer and conductor Johan de Meij, as well as other internationally recognized soloists, educators and jazz musicians.
The list of artists will be supplemented, taking into account the seasonal workload of the world’s leading orchestras.
Participation in the festival has already been confirmed by several Latvian professional collectives, including the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, the Latvian Radio Big Band and the National Guard Orchestra of the Republic of Latvia.
The festival program includes big concerts with a symphony orchestra, big band and wind orchestra, chamber music concerts, master classes for young musicians and professionals, international competitions in solo, ensemble and jazz categories, as well as panel discussions and exhibitions of musical instruments. Some events will also be open to the general public.
