Australian Cricket Viewership Soars During Recent Ashes Series

Recent data reveals a meaningful surge in viewership for the recent ashes series between Australia and England, wiht audiences on Kayo up 112% compared to the 2021-22 series, which Australia won 4-0.

The test matches held in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth achieved record-breaking average audiences for Kayo, representing the platform’s three highest-ever viewership figures for test cricket. The Adelaide test also garnered its highest-ever audience for a test match held at that venue.

Todd Greenberg,Chief Executive of Cricket Australia,expressed delight at the figures,stating,”The enormous crowds and audiences for the series where beyond even our most optimistic forecasts,and we’re delighted that so many Australians enjoyed the action in brilliant stadiums,on the couch or at the beach.”

Steve Crawley, Managing Director of Fox Sports, highlighted the captivating nature of the series, saying, “It was an exhilarating series with twists that no one could have anticipated, and Australians turned to Fox Sports in record numbers to watch another chapter in one of the world’s greatest rivalries.” He further emphasized the strong connection audiences have with their coverage and the overall strength of cricket in Australia.

Beyond the Ashes, Foxtel continues to broadcast domestic cricket, including the ongoing Big Bash League Twenty20 competition, with the final scheduled for January 25th. Foxtel also recently announced strong audience numbers for its coverage of the 2025 Supercars motor racing season, shared with Seven.
