Young Girl Thriving After Life-Saving Liver Transplant
A young girl named Etta is flourishing after undergoing a complex liver transplant last September, according to her mother, Dionne Cartmill. Cartmill shared Etta’s story on The Nolan Show, detailing the family’s journey with the child’s serious health challenges.
While etta was previously known to have a kidney condition, the need for a liver transplant was only discovered approximately a year ago. following an eleven-hour surgical procedure, Etta required ventilation and a temporary mesh covering for her abdomen due to post-operative swelling that prevented immediate closure. Fortunately, the transplant was successful, and Etta now possesses a healthy liver.
“from when Etta got the liver transplant, she’s absolutely thriving. Her wee personality and everything’s coming through,” Cartmill stated, highlighting the dramatic improvement in her daughter’s well-being.
Before the transplant, Etta endured significant discomfort and distress. Cartmill described the child as constantly experiencing stomach pain and crying incessantly, with little that could provide relief. The situation was especially challenging during dialysis treatments, where Etta exhibited agitation and an inability to find comfort, alternating between seeking and rejecting physical closeness.
The successful transplant has brought a remarkable transformation, allowing Etta to experience a happier and healthier life.
