Bungie Announces March 5, 2026 Launch for Marathon

Bungie’s highly anticipated extraction shooter, Marathon, is officially launching on March 5, 2026, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This proclamation follows a delay from its originally planned 2025 release and aims to solidify the game as a major live-service offering.

Marathon plunges players into a tense PvPvE experience set on the hostile world of Tau Ceti IV. Players take on the role of bio-cybernetic Runners, forming crews of up to three to scavenge escalating zones for valuable gear, implants, and intel. Triumphant runs allow players to progress to raid-like endgame content aboard the UESC Marathon, facing off against heavily armed enemy crews and a mysterious, powerful force.

The game will be available at a standard price of $39.99. A Deluxe Edition will include the Midnight Decay weapon and Runner shell cosmetics. A Collector’s edition, created in partnership with PureArts, will feature a 1/6 scale Thief Runner shell statue and a WEAVEworm miniature.

Bungie is heavily integrating Marathon with its existing ecosystem. pre-ordering the game unlocks exclusive in-game cosmetics for both Marathon and destiny 2. To further immerse players, limited-edition Marathon-themed dualsense controllers and Pulse Elite headsets are also being released, reflecting the game’s distinctive neon industrial aesthetic.

Cross-play and cross-save functionality will be supported at launch, and a rated mode is planned for Season 1, indicating Bungie’s commitment to a long-term competitive PvPvE experience. The studio aims to move beyond a typical “live-service experiment” and establish Marathon as a core pillar of its future offerings.
