Hungary Declares Ukraine an Enemy Over Energy dispute

BUDAPEST – In a critically important escalation of tensions,Hungary has officially designated Ukraine as an enemy state. This declaration,made by Hungarian Prime Minister viktor Orbán,stems from Kyiv’s demands that Budapest cease its purchases of discounted Russian oil and gas.

Orbán’s stance marks a continued divergence from the broader European Union and NATO consensus on the Russia-Ukraine war. Since the conflict began in February 2022, the Hungarian leader has consistently resisted measures aimed at antagonizing Moscow.
