Tigre’s Disgrace After Win: River Plate Celebrations & Locker Room Fallout

Everything is joy in Tigre after the 4-1 defeat of River this Saturday at the Monumental and after seeing itself in first place – if Independiente Rivadavia does not win or draw it will be the only one – in Zone B of this Apertura Tournament. And with the triumph, The Matador did not miss the opportunity to join, from his official networks, the multiple attacks against the Millionaire.

What did the Victoria club do? Post a photo of the big screen of the Monumental, where you can see Tigre’s 4-1, with a particular description: “Close your eyes for 30 seconds and imagine the pain we would feel if we had lost.”

Where do those words come from? To a remembered phrase that Marcelo Gallardo expressed on December 9, 2021, on the third anniversary of the Libertadores final that River beat Boca.

“Close your eyes and imagine if that had happened to us. The pain we would be feeling right now. Now open your eyes and look around you. That beginning (“close your eyes”), in fact, was used for the title of the special documentary about that final, which premiered on December 9, 2023 and had the participation of the entire team.
