Rob now feels good in the home. “Of course, it’s a nursing home, which means they do everything for you,” he shares. “The people there are very friendly. I actually didn’t have to adapt.”
In addition to Parkinson’s, the presenter has been struggling with balance problems for the past year and a half. He was also diagnosed with prostate cancer years ago,but he had kept this a secret until recently. In an earlier interview with Privé he stated: “at 75 I can do anything, I can choose what I die from. But I hope to remain self-deprecating. It is importent that people don’t think I’m pathetic.”

Rob was cared for by his daughter for years, but his situation soon became too dangerous to stay home alone. “I have to be watched 24 hours a day, and my daughter always had to arrange for someone to be in the house when I was alone.”
It often happened that Rob fell several times a day. “I also fell a few times in the shower. fortunately I still have strong bones,so I usually don’t break anything,but you never know when you can break something.”
Despite the setbacks, Rob remains positive and tries to make the best of his situation. He even has plans to create a garden in the nursing home. “That’s really nice.”
