(Jecheon = News 1) Reporter Son Do-eon = On the 9th, People Power Party Central Party Spokesperson Lee Chung-hyeong (59) officially declared his candidacy for Jecheon mayor in the local elections in June, saying, “There are quite a few heads of organizations with media backgrounds across the country.”
Spokesperson Lee held a press conference at Jecheon City Hall this morning and emphasized, “To get ahead of others, you have to run twice as fast. Jecheon is now at a point where it must run faster than other cities.”
Spokesperson Lee said, “As a journalist for nearly 30 years, I have worked in various government ministries, and am currently working as a spokesperson for the People Power Party Central Party, covering the flow of national policy. The era of regional urban management requires central contacts and diverse experiences.”
He added, “I gained international awareness through studying abroad and working as a correspondent for KBS in Paris,” adding, “I learned the growth strategies of cities around the world on the job.”
As his major pledges, he presented five major strategies, including reinventing the city brand, transforming into an economic city, revolutionizing metropolitan transportation, creating a high-quality tourist city, and implementing integrated leadership.
In particular, he emphasized that he would promote a ‘special self-governing organization’ that joins Jecheon, Wonju, and Chungju.
Spokesperson Lee, who graduated from Jecheon Uirim Elementary School, Jecheon Middle School, Jecheon High School, and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, served as a KBS Paris correspondent and director of the Human Resources Development Institute. He is currently working as a spokesperson for the People Power Party Central Party.
