CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A woman admitted to shooting another woman outside an east Charlotte apartment building Sunday afternoon, an affidavit shows.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested 23-year-old Nasani Raley and charged her with murder after she called 911 to report what happened. Raley told the 911 operator the victim tried to grab her gun, the affidavit reads.
The victim, Jordan Symone Davis, 22, died later at the hospital from a single gunshot wound.
Philip Mosley was home at the Peppertree Apartments when the incident happened.
“It is very unnerving,” Mosley said. “That’s horrible that it has to come to that. That’s the society it’s come to and it’s a shame for everybody.”
While Mosely is bothered that violence happened so close to him, he trusts the victim will get justice.
“I know she will. I believe there is a higher power that works in very mysterious ways and it will take care of that. Whoever was in the wrong, Mosley said.
A judge denied bond for Raley on Monday. Police also charged her with drug possession and maintaining a vehicle for selling narcotics, police said.
What happened
The deadly shooting reportedly happened shortly after 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8, along Timber Hollow Drive near Central Avenue.
Police said Davis was found suffering from a gunshot wound and later died at the hospital after being rushed there by paramedics.
Investigators said it was not immediately clear what led up to the shooting, but Nasani was arrested and charged with murder.
