A HUGE Oscar-nominated singer has left fans fearing she may have quit music for good after admitting it no longer “creatively fulfils” her.
It sounds like the star could be planning to focus on acting full-time, raising the possibility she may be hanging up her pop star microphone for the foreseeable future.
Hailee Steinfeld, 29, made the comments while responding to questions from fans via her Beau Society newsletter.
The Love Myself singer said that while she thinks about music a lot, she has no plans to make any more for the time being.
For the past decade, the star has been balancing acting and music careers.
She said: “While I have no plans to make music right at this exact moment, do I think about it? All the time.
“Music has always been a huge part of my life, and if it makes sense to get back in a studio, it’s an easy yes.”
But the star, whose last single Coast was released in 2022, suggested she now feels disconnected from why she made music in the first place.
She explained: “The music industry has changed quite a bit over the last few years.
“I don’t feel as creatively fulfilled by music as much as I used to. I love the way Charli XCX writes about this.”
British star Charli XCX has previously expressed concerns that artists are now expected to be “content machines”, rather than just musicians.
Hailee is an Oscar nominee after being nominated for the prestigious gong for her debut role in True Grit when she was just 14.
The screen star’s acting career has gone from strength to strength and she was recently praised for her role in Sinners alongside Michael B Jordan.
Marvel fans best know Hailee, who is currently pregnant with her first child, for her role as Kate Bishop in the Disney+ series Hawkeye.
However, the US-born star has also been taken seriously as a pop artist and has notched up a string of hits.
She has scored UK chart hits with singles including Love Myself and Starving.
Hailee is also taking on a third job soon as she prepares to become a mum for the first time.
The entertainer announced the happy news that she and her husband, NFL star Josh Allen, are expecting their first child on social media in December last year.
Letting fans in on the moment with a super-sweet reveal video, Hailee said the pregnancy has “reminded her of how precious life is.”
“28 was wild, beautiful, humbling, and full of the kind of moments that sneak up and change you quietly… This year, I’ve been reminded of how precious life is,” the film star shared alongside the clip.
Hailee later posed proudly with her baby bump at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards.
Hailee and Josh began dating in May 2023 and married in a low key ceremony in California last year.
