The opening scene depicts the murderous spree of a jealous husband and freely transitions to the vastness of the tundra. The Central European finds almost no clues in its terrain and is in danger of death.
Death is a central motif that repeatedly emerges in the flow of the narrative not only in the form of lurking danger, but also in memories of the author’s dying father. Despite the depicted dramas and bizarre situations, the author maintains humor and perspective. In addition to climate change causing the melting of permafrost and the release of harmful carbon dioxide, the narrative also touches on the personal life of the narrator, who almost got married in Siberia.
The novel offers an extremely impressive reflection on life and a person who is permanently fascinated by Siberia, even though he would not want to live there permanently.
