Latvia’s Housing: Smaller Spaces Compared to Europe

Latvia has an average of 2.2 people per household. When looking at how much space people have, it’s helpful to consider the number of rooms per person. Recent data from Eurostat reveals that homes in Latvia are generally smaller than those in other European countries.

On average, Europeans have 1.7 rooms per person in their homes. In Latvia, that number is 1.2 rooms per person. This means Latvian residents typically have less living space compared to their counterparts across Europe.

Interestingly, Latvia and Malta have a similar percentage of people living in apartments. However, apartments in Malta are, on average, larger. Maltese apartments offer about 2.2 rooms per person, considerably more than the 1.2 rooms per person found in Latvian apartments.

These statistics highlight a difference in housing conditions between Latvia and other European nations, especially when considering the size of living spaces.
