Freestyle football has developed over a history of just under 30 years, and the culture was born and developed in Japan in the early 2000s. I became the first champion of freestyle football culture in 2023 and am currently active as a player.
In 2023, as the Japanese champion, he carried the culture on his shoulders and experienced more than 30 battles both domestically and internationally. During that experience, I felt “the core strength of the players who compete at the top when it comes to expression” and “the sadness for the older generation who are leaving the competitive arena.”
I feel that this is something that can only be understood by being at the forefront of culture. With this in mind, we launched this event, “Eyes on me,” with the goal of “connecting cultural generations. Delivering the passion of culture to the outside world.”
This event is different from normal battle events, and is not an event to decide who is number one. Our main goal is to deliver the charm of freestyle football in its purest form, without the limitations of battle.
Therefore, I think it has the potential to become a place where not only current players, but also children, alumni, and OG players who have left the battle world can connect. Furthermore, it will become an event that spreads its appeal to areas other than freestyle football.
We also hope that it becomes a stage that current players want to aim for. Freestyle football is a type of urban sport that anyone can play, and the culture of paying to watch it is still in its infancy.
