The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the threat shortly after 12:00 p.m. When the school administration contacted the campus School Resource Deputy regarding a threatening phone call they had received. During the “secure campus” status, students and staff remained indoors with classroom instruction continuing as long as doors were locked.

Investigation Reveals Pattern of Similar Threats

Deputies from the Rancho San Diego Sheriff’s Station responded to the school and initiated an investigation. Detectives discovered multiple related incidents over the past two weeks originating from law enforcement agencies in both California, and Idaho. These incidents involved the same phone number and identical wording in the threats.

No Ongoing Threat to Campus

Based on the investigation, all evidence indicates the threat to Monte Vista High School was unfounded. Authorities confirmed there is no present danger to students, staff, or the school itself. Multiple deputies remained on campus as a precautionary measure while normal activities resumed.
