New Leadership Team Set to Shape the Next Era of Assassin’s Creed

Vantage Studios, a Ubisoft subsidiary, has announced a new leadership team tasked with guiding the future of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The appointments, revealed on February 23, 2026, signal a strategic shift for the long-running series.

Key Appointments

The new leadership consists of three seasoned veterans of the gaming industry:

  • Martin Schelling has been named Head of Assassin’s Creed Brand, responsible for the overall strategy and long-term vision of the franchise. Ubisoft notes Schelling’s extensive experience on defining Assassin’s Creed titles, including Revelations, Black Flag, Origins, and Valhalla. He previously served as Ubisoft’s Chief Production Officer.
  • Jean Guesdon has been appointed Head of Content, overseeing the creative direction of the brand and ensuring its continued adherence to its core DNA. Ubisoft highlights Guesdon’s history with the series, dating back to Assassin’s Creed II, and his role as Creative Director on Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed Origins.
  • François de Billy will serve as Head of Production Excellence, focusing on strengthening production practices across the franchise. He previously served as Production Director on Assassin’s Creed: Origins and Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. Ubisoft recognizes his ability to optimize production workflows.

A Collaborative Team

The three leaders have a long history of collaboration on flagship Assassin’s Creed games, spanning creative, production, and brand strategy. They will work alongside Andrée-Anne Boisvert, Producer for Assassin’s Creed crossbrand initiatives and Head of Technological Excellence, and Lionel Hiller, VP Brand and Go-to-Market Strategy.

Future of the Franchise

While the new team is stepping into their roles as Ubisoft reshapes its long-term future with upcoming gaming series, Sportskeeda reports that the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake is likely the first project to be released under their leadership. However, given the remake’s advanced stage of development, the new team’s direct contribution to it may be limited.

Jean Guesdon expressed his enthusiasm for returning to the franchise, stating, “It is wonderful to be back after all these years. Assassin’s Creed has been a defining part of my professional life and being back feels like coming home.”
