King Harald of Norway Hospitalized in Tenerife

King Harald V of Norway, 89, has been hospitalized in Tenerife, Spain, while on a private winter holiday with Queen Sonja. The Norwegian royal house announced the hospitalization on February 24, 2026.

Infection and Dehydration

The King was admitted to Hospital Universitario Hospiten Sur in Tenerife due to an infection and dehydration, according to a statement from the Royal House of Norway Town & Country Mag. His condition is described as “decent, under the circumstances” by The Mirror.

Medical Support and Updates

The King’s personal physician is traveling to Tenerife to assist local healthcare services. An update on King Harald’s health is expected on Wednesday, February 25, after the physician has assessed the situation The News.

Recent Health Concerns

King Harald is Europe’s oldest monarch and has faced several health issues in recent years. He was previously hospitalized with an infection while on vacation in Malaysia in 2024 Town & Country Mag.
