The highly anticipated Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition is set to launch globally under a new name: the Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi. The announcement, made by Xiaomi Spain on X (formerly Twitter), confirms the device will be unveiled at a global launch event in Barcelona, Spain, on February 28th at 2:00 p.m. Local time. Xiaomi describes the Leica Leitzphone as being “inspired by Leica’s century of light and shadow and forged after four years of collaboration,” positioning it as a significant step forward in mobile photography.
Key Features and Design Changes
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition, now the Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi, boasts a unique mechanical zoom ring for the camera, allowing users to adjust zoom, focus, and exposure. Whereas extensively tested in China, the international variant will feature minor design modifications. These include a completely black rear panel, replacing the Chinese model’s two-tone design, and a 90-degree rotation of both Leica logos. The reason for the logo rotation has not been disclosed.
