Danielle Martineau Celebrates Traditional Quebecois Music with New Podcast, “Touchante”

Quebecois accordionist and singer Danielle Martineau, a celebrated figure in traditional music, is the focus of a new podcast titled “Touchante.” The podcast, released by the Conseil québécois du patrimoine vivant (CQPV), delves into Martineau’s extensive career and her dedication to preserving and promoting Quebec’s musical heritage.

A Lifetime Dedicated to Traditional Music

Danielle Martineau was born in Quebec in 1951 and has become a cornerstone of the province’s traditional music scene, particularly known for her work in the Îles de la Madeleine. She is a co-founder of several influential groups, including Joséphine, Rockabayou, and Les Crapaudes [1]. Her contributions have been recognized with three nominations for the Juno Awards in the categories of Folk and Traditional Music Album of the Year – Solo (1996, 1997) and Album of the Year – Children’s Album (1999) [1].

“Touchante” Podcast Explores Song and Heritage
