During a deposition before the House Oversight Committee, Clinton stated he believes the photo was taken in Brunei at the end of an Asian tour focused on his AIDS initiative. He explained that the Sultan of Brunei had offered accommodations at a specific hotel and encouraged him to use the pool facilities. “I want you to stay at this hotel and I hope you will use the pool. When questioned about the identity of the person with him in the hot tub, whose face was redacted in the released image, Clinton responded twice, stating, “I don’t know who that is.” He clarified that other members of his traveling party were also present at the pool area, and he was certain no children were present.
