Mairéad Delaney, Beloved Mayo Community Member, Passes Away
Hollymount, County Mayo, is mourning the loss of Mairéad Delaney (née Honan), who passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 5th, 2026, at Mayo Hospice, surrounded by her family. A former resident of Newtown, Ennistymon, County Clare, Ms. Delaney’s death has prompted an outpouring of grief and remembrance from the community.
A Life Remembered
Mairéad Delaney is deeply mourned by her husband, Martin Gerard, and their children, Eóghan, Niamh, and Fionn. She is also survived by her parents, James and Margaret Honan of Ennistymon, her brothers Derek and Cathal, sisters Siobhain and Eilish, and her father-in-law Mattie, along with numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends. She is remembered fondly by all who knew her.
Funeral Arrangements
Reposing will grab place in Carey’s Funeral Home, Ballindine (F12A3C6) on Saturday evening, March 7th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Mairéad’s remains will arrive at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Crossboyne on Sunday morning, March 8th, for Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow in Crossboyne Cemetery.
Funeral Mass will be live streamed on the Taugheen community Facebook page.
