A New Season for ‘Seen on the Screen’
The podcast “Seen on the Screen,” which offers behind-the-scenes looks at upcoming film and television projects, is rebranding and expanding its reach. Fandango has joined Universal Entertainment as a production partner, building on the podcast’s launch in 2024. This season’s guests include Brie Larson, Halle Bailey, Regé-Jean Page, and Tyriq Withers, with Rotten Tomatoes’ Awards Editor Jacqueline Coley returning as host. NBC Insider reports this collaboration will broaden distribution across NBCUniversal and Versant platforms.
The Demand for Rom-Coms
Packer discussed You, Me & Tuscany on the “Seen on the Screen” podcast, explaining the impetus behind bringing a new rom-com to audiences. He emphasized the importance of listening to what viewers wish, noting a frequent request for films like You, Me & Tuscany. “I love a romcom,” Packer said. “And if I have a secret to my success, it really is listening to audiences…When I talk to real people, I have heard often, ‘Where’s our romcom? Where’s our Eat Pray Love? Where’s something for this generation?’ I think audiences are missing that.”
The Story of Anna and Michael
You, Me & Tuscany follows Anna (Bailey), who spontaneously travels to Tuscany and begins squatting in a villa owned by a man she doesn’t know. She then pretends to be the owner’s fiancée, leading to a series of escalating lies. The situation becomes even more complicated when the villa’s owner, Michael (Page), arrives. Fandango highlights the film’s blend of adventure, deception, and romance.
Packer’s Partnership with Universal
Packer also highlighted his long-standing relationship with Universal Pictures, noting their successful collaborations and the studio’s support for his vision. “My longest and strongest partnership has been with Universal Pictures,” he stated. “We have made several number one movies here and even broken some records…So, it’s a good partnership. It’s great. I love the art of storytelling, especially right now when people are looking for an escape.”
