Princess Beatrix Spends Day with Farm Animals for NLdoet Volunteer Campaign
Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands actively participated in the annual NLdoet volunteer campaign on Thursday, March 13, 2026, dedicating her time to a local petting zoo in Amsterdam. The Princess engaged with farm animals, including feeding lambs, as part of the initiative organized by the Oranje Fonds.
NLdoet and the Oranje Fonds
NLdoet, which took place on March 15th and 16th in 2024, is the largest volunteer campaign in the Netherlands, organized annually by the Oranje Fonds. The campaign provides opportunities for individuals to experience the rewards of volunteer work.
A Day at the Petting Zoo
Princess Beatrix arrived at the petting zoo early in the morning, where she was greeted by a crowd of eager animals. She focused on ensuring the animals were fed fairly, playfully telling a particularly insistent sheep to “behave” when it attempted to eat from her feeding container. Two lambs at the farm were specifically named ‘Bea’ and ‘Trix’ in honor of the Princess.
The Princess noted she had experience with horses, but this was a new experience with sheep.
Previous NLdoet Participation
In 2025, Princess Beatrix also participated in NLdoet, volunteering at Speelotheek Hoograven in Utrecht. There, she assisted at a toy library and worked in a playground, filling flower boxes, weeding, and painting benches.
