Xu, born in 1998, was employed as a teacher at a vocational technical secondary school in Qidong. Beginning in September 2023, she utilized the WeChat platform to distribute “flash photos”—images designed to disappear after viewing—to attract followers and encourage connections. She then leveraged these connections to sell nude videos, including self-recorded content and videos featuring others, for prices ranging from 199 to 299 yuan (approximately $27 to $41 USD).

According to court findings, Xu sold nine videos to one individual (Fu) and 24 videos to another (Wang). Between September 2023 and May 2024, Xu generated illegal profits exceeding 240,000 yuan (approximately $33,000 USD) through WeChat and Alipay transactions. She was arrested in May 2024.

Legal Proceedings and Sentencing

Following her arrest, Xu confessed to the charges and demonstrated remorse by withdrawing her ill-gotten gains and voluntarily pleading guilty. The Shanghai Baoshan District People’s Court convicted her of producing and selling obscene materials for profit. Despite acknowledging her cooperation and guilty plea, the court imposed a sentence of three years imprisonment, suspended for three years, along with the 250,000 yuan fine.
