Montevideo, Uruguay – The USA Men’s Eagles Sevens team delivered a dominant performance at the Uruguay SVNS 2, going undefeated to secure first place and a coveted spot in the SVNS World Championship Series. Building on a strong opening day with wins over Kenya, Uruguay, and Canada, the Eagles continued their winning streak with victories against Belgium and a decisive performance against Germany.

Undefeated Run to Championship Qualification

The Eagles’ success in Montevideo marks a significant step towards the end-of-season tournaments in Hong Kong, Valladolid, and Bordeaux. Their performance showcased a blend of tactical prowess and physical dominance, overcoming challenging conditions and tough competition.

Key Performances and Debutants Shine

Debutants Aaron Faison and Tucker Trickey made an immediate impact, both scoring their first tries in the USA Eagles jersey. Will Chevalier was named Player of the Tournament, demonstrating market impact with five scores throughout the competition.

Coach Test Praises Team’s Brotherhood and Progress

Head Coach Zack Test expressed immense pride in his team’s performance, emphasizing the importance of their unity and commitment. “I’m incredibly proud of the boys. Our brotherhood and sticking together led to a high-quality performance against a team that defeated us last week. It’s a massive achievement and while we have much more to accomplish, we are progressing on the path we intended,” said Test.

He further highlighted the team’s physicality and tactical approach: “We witnessed some truly ‘warrior’ performances this weekend, with players grinding through 14-minute matches that included phases lasting over two minutes. Following the Nairobi tournament, we knew our focus needed to be on starting and finishing Day 2 strongly. We committed to being ruthlessly physical, consistently moving the point of attack, outworking and out-physicaling our opponents, and sticking together as a team. Our goal was to deliver a world-class performance, and we achieved that against Germany.”

Test envisions a championship-caliber team: “A performance like that isn’t just for great teams, that’s for champion teams, and that’s something that’s what we’re building; a championship team. We are only scratching the surface of our true capability, but we’re starting to gain real glimpses of what that looks like.”
