Babe the Elephant Celebrates 51st Birthday with PAW Patrol Theme

The Little Rock Zoo is hosting a special birthday celebration for Babe, their beloved elephant, as she turns 51 years old. The event, themed around the popular children’s show PAW Patrol, invites Chase, Marshall, and Skye to join the festivities.

About Babe

Born in 1975, Babe is the youngest of the elephants at the Little Rock Zoo. She began her life in a logging camp in Myanmar, where she was identified with star-shaped brands. Before retiring in 2000, she spent a short time traveling with the circus. Babe arrived at the Little Rock Zoo in 2013 with Sophie, after previously residing at Niabi Zoo in Illinois. She is the largest of the zoo’s elephants, weighing approximately 11,700 lbs.

Little Rock Zoo’s Commitment to Elephant Care

The Little Rock Zoo specializes in providing care for aging elephants, particularly geriatric females. The zoo has a long history of expertise in caring for elephants over the age of 45, and currently houses two elephants: Babe and Zina.

Zina is known for her spirited personality and close friendship with Babe. She has a partially paralyzed trunk, the cause of which is unknown.
