Springfield’s Economic Growth Driven by Successful Capital Campaign
The city of Springfield, Ohio, has marked a significant milestone in its economic development journey following the conclusion of the Greater Springfield Partnership’s (GSP) EXPAND 2029 capital campaign. The initiative surpassed its $6.5 million fundraising target, representing a 60% increase over previous campaigns and setting a new benchmark for regional economic development efforts.
Strategic Leadership and Community Investment
The campaign’s success was attributed to the strategic management provided by Convergent Nonprofit Solutions, a national expert in capital campaign fundraising. According to Steve Stevens, Senior Project Director at Convergent, the partnership between GSP and their team demonstrated the power of aligned strategy, trust, and execution. “The Greater Springfield Partnership came to the table with credibility, a clear vision, and a team ready to lead,” Stevens said.

The campaign followed a feasibility study that engaged over 60 community leaders and stakeholders. The findings highlighted Springfield’s readiness to invest in a bold next chapter, with financial commitments secured from corporations, local governments, foundations, and individual donors.
Building on Past Achievements
The EXPAND 2029 campaign built upon the successes of GSP’s previous initiatives, which had already driven momentum in the region. Key leaders involved in the campaign included Mike McDorman, Horton Hobbs, and Amy Donohoe, who worked closely with Convergent to implement a multi-phase strategy.
“This campaign was a powerful demonstration of what can happen when strategy, trust, and execution align,” Stevens added. The results reflect the community’s confidence in GSP’s vision for Springfield’s future.
