Giant Bicycles and its sister brand, Liv, have launched their new flagship gravel racing platforms, the Revolt Advanced SL and the Devote Advanced SL. Both bikes feature a significant reduction in frame weight and updated geometry designed for modern gravel racing, though immediate availability in the United States remains restricted due to ongoing regulatory reviews of manufacturing imports.
Technical Upgrades in the New SL Platforms
The 2026 Giant Revolt Advanced SL and Liv Devote Advanced SL represent the brand’s first application of its "SL" carbon layup—previously reserved for aero road and cross-country mountain bikes—to the gravel category. According to Giant Bicycles, this engineering shift utilizes a proprietary high-modulus carbon resin formula enhanced with Carbon Nanotube Technology (CNT).

The weight savings are substantial across both models. The Revolt Advanced SL frame weighs 839g, a 151g reduction from its predecessor. The Liv Devote Advanced SL frame weighs 830g, marking a 160g decrease. Giant reports that the Revolt achieves a 15.4% increase in pedaling efficiency, while the Devote sees a 16.9% boost in the same metric. Both bikes are now fully compatible with the Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) standard, allowing for the integration of the latest SRAM AXS XPLR 13-speed groupsets.
Changes to Geometry and Handling
Giant has moved away from the industry-wide trend of ultra-short chainstays. Both the Revolt and Devote now feature 433mm chainstays, a design choice intended to increase stability during high-speed gravel descents.
To maintain agility despite the longer wheelbase, Giant adjusted the rider position. The bikes feature a 29mm shorter stack height and a steeper seat tube angle compared to previous generations. These modifications are intended to provide a more aggressive, aerodynamic position for competitive racing. The frames now accommodate tires up to 53mm in width, providing significant clearance for varying terrain requirements.
Aerodynamic and Component Integration
A primary driver of the aerodynamic gains in the new line is the one-piece integrated cockpit. Giant claims a total system drag reduction of 13.8 watts for the Revolt across a +/- 20-degree yaw angle sweep. Of those savings, 3.72 watts are attributed directly to the frameset, with the remainder resulting from the new Cadex GXR wheelset and integrated handlebar system.
The Cadex GXR wheels feature a 50mm rim depth and utilize carbon-bladed spokes to improve stiffness and aerodynamics. According to Cadex, these wheels weigh 1,280g per set and offer a 20% increase in transmission stiffness compared to the brand’s previous gravel-specific wheel offerings.
Availability Status in the United States
While the bikes have been officially unveiled, they are not currently available for purchase in the United States. This is due to a Withhold Release Order (WRO) issued by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regarding goods produced at the GTM factory in Taiwan.
In a statement provided to Velo, Giant confirmed they are cooperating with federal authorities to resolve the trade restriction. "Giant Group has been working diligently with US Customs and Border Protection to resolve the Withhold Release Order regarding products produced by Giant Manufacturing," the company stated. "However, as the WRO is currently under CBP review, we cannot provide a specific timeframe for product availability at this moment."
