Schmidt finished his tenure with Rugby Australia at the conclusion of the 2024 Rugby Championship. Prior to his stint leading the Wallabies through the 2024 international window, the New Zealander served as director of rugby for New Zealand Rugby and famously guided Leinster to two Heineken Cups and a Pro12 title between 2010 and 2013 before managing Ireland from 2013 to 2019.
