According to journalist Francys Romero, Álvarez joins José Abreu (2014) and Rafael Palmeiro (1999) as the only players born on the island to achieve this milestone.

Álvarez secured his second monthly honor of the season by posting a .360 batting average, nine home runs, and 22 runs batted in (RBI) during July. This follows his first award of the year, earned for his performance in March and April, where he recorded a .356 average, 12 home runs, and 27 RBI across 32 games, maintaining an OPS of 1.199.

By the end of July, the Las Tunas native led the American League in three primary offensive categories: batting average (.330), home runs (35), and RBI (84). These metrics are the components of the Triple Crown, a feat not achieved in the American League since Miguel Cabrera did so in 2012, according to league records.
