Grand Canyon West visitors standing at Eagle Point can step out onto the Grand Canyon Skywalk, a horseshoe-shaped glass bridge extending 70 feet beyond the canyon rim. According to the Hualapai Tribe, which owns and operates the destination on the reservation in Arizona, the structure suspends visitors roughly 4,000 feet above the canyon floor.

Visiting the Grand Canyon Skywalk at Eagle Point

The Skywalk opened to the public in March 2007 as a tourist attraction managed by the Hualapai Tribe. Visitors approaching the attraction walk along a steel-frame bridge with a glass floor that allows unobstructed views of the gorge below. Per the National Park Service, Grand Canyon West operates independently of the National Park’s main South Rim facilities, sitting approximately 250 miles away by road from Grand Canyon Village.

Ticketing and Safety Rules at Grand Canyon West

Access to the glass bridge requires purchasing specific visitor packages offered through the Grand Canyon West ticketing office. According to tribal tourism guidelines, personal items including cameras, cell phones, and bags are prohibited on the Skywalk structure itself to protect the glass surface from scratches. Lockers are provided on-site for guest use before stepping onto the bridge, and professional photographers capture images that visitors can purchase afterward.

Cultural Significance of Eagle Point

Beyond the architectural span of the Skywalk, Eagle Point serves as the location of the Hualapai Ranch and an authentic Native American village. According to the Grand Canyon West enterprise, the area features traditional dwellings, dance grounds, and live performances by members of the Hualapai, Navajo, Hopi, Havasupai, and Plains tribes, providing context on the indigenous history of the region.
