Scuderia Ferrari heads into the Formula 1 summer break facing critical performance questions following a challenging European stretch. According to official team statements and race reports, the Maranello-based constructor has struggled to match the development pace of McLaren and Red Bull Racing during the 2024 season.

Ferrari Upgrade Evaluation and Technical Direction

According to Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur, technical upgrades introduced earlier in the European rounds triggered unexpected aerodynamic bouncing, known as porpoising. Vasseur noted that the SF-24 car lost underlying performance consistency due to these correlation issues between the wind tunnel and track data. Engineers spent multiple race weekends collecting baseline telemetry to dial out the instability, sacrificing immediate race pace to understand the root cause of the aerodynamic loss.

Partner Integration and Commercial Partnerships

Alongside technical development, Ferrari continues to balance its competitive goals with major commercial commitments. The team’s official channels highlight ongoing collaborations with long-standing title partner HP, alongside Shell and UniCredit, supporting the operational framework of the racing division. These partnerships provide the financial backing necessary to fund the aggressive in-season development race required at the front of the Formula 1 grid.

Second-Half Outlook and Championship Standings

With the championship battle tightening among top constructors, Ferrari sits firmly in the fight for podium finishes while chasing down rival teams in the standings. According to FIA race classifications, execution on race days and tyre degradation management remain the primary areas of focus for the engineering crew. Vasseur confirmed that future car specifications will prioritize usable, stable downforce over peak theoretical numbers to give drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz a predictable platform for the remainder of the calendar.
