A massive new Department of Veterans Affairs outpatient clinic is planned for Copperas Cove, Texas, designed to bring primary care, mental health services, and specialty care closer to Coryell County veterans and Fort Hood military families, according to local officials and congressional announcements.

The planned facility will cover approximately 256,000 square feet on roughly 22 acres situated on the east side of Copperas Cove, according to reporting by Prism News. According to KWTX, the building will be located off Robert Griffin III Boulevard on an empty lot adjacent to the Beals and Ashly Outlet. The estimated cost of the project is $151 million, as reported by Prism News. Construction on the site is scheduled for completion in late 2029, according to KWTX.

U.S. Rep. John Carter formally announced the project on Feb. 13, 2026, during a gathering at Central Texas College that included municipal leaders from Copperas Cove, officials from Fort Hood, and surrounding community members, according to Prism News. Carter stated that planning for the facility spanned more than five years, following an earlier Central Texas Veterans Affairs Health Care System initiative in April 2022 to award community-based outpatient clinic contracts for Copperas Cove and Killeen, as reported by Prism News.
