When the skin temperature of an apple rises excessively, underlying cellular tissue suffers damage, turning the fruit’s surface brown or black. In severe cases, secondary pathogens such as anthracnose exploit these compromised areas, causing rapid decay and stripping the harvest of its commercial value, according to the Bonghwa Agricultural Technology Center.
