Artaza and Cherutti Reunite for Multiescena Premiere
Argentine actor and producer Nito Artaza is returning to the stage in August with a brand-new comedy titled Argenmatch (Amor argento), reuniting with Miguel Ángel Cherutti at the Multiescena Theatre. According to an interview with LA NACION, the production explores modern romance through the lens of dating apps and features an ensemble cast directed by Martín Mariani.
Artaza and Cherutti are bringing their professional partnership back to Buenos Aires after successful touring runs. Argenmatch (Amor argento) opens on August 20, playing Thursday through Sunday at the Multiescena Theatre. The comedy features writing by Gaby Almirón and co-stars Belén Francese, Tamara Bella, Larry de Clay, and Nancy Meijide. In the production, Artaza takes on two distinct roles, including playing a female character named Lisette for the first time in comedy, alongside a Paraguayan character.
International Tours and Personal Independence
The duo previously found success with their staging of Pato a la naranja and various revue shows. Following their Buenos Aires run, Artaza and Cherutti plan to take their collaborative comedy to European audiences in November, with scheduled stops in Spain including Mallorca, Valencia, Barcelona, Málaga, and Madrid, before Artaza travels to Paris to visit his granddaughter, Catalina.
Reflecting on his personal life and past relationships during his interview with LA NACION, Artaza noted that he currently maintains independent bonds and prioritizes spending time with his three children—Sabrina, Juan Manuel, and Leandro—along with his grandchildren. He emphasized that he is not looking for cohabitation or traditional domestic commitments in this stage of his life, preferring a framework of mutual respect and independence.
From Bella Vista Imitations to the Tabarís Stage
Born in Bella Vista, Corrientes, Artaza discovered his talent for comedic imitation at a young age. At 16, he performed a routine at the Fiesta de la Naranja imitating the provincial governor, which launched his local popularity. Although he initially moved to Buenos Aires to study journalism at the Grafotécnico institute, his career shifted toward nightlife entertainment and theater after producer Carlos Petit cast him in a revue at the Teatro Tabarís alongside Moria Casán and Carmen Barbieri.
Political Legacy and Cambio Popular
Alongside his entertainment career, Artaza maintains a lifelong connection to politics rooted in his family history. According to family background noted in his interview, his relatives have long participated in radicalism, and his great-uncle Daniel Leandro Artaza served as a vice-governor of Corrientes. The local political party Cambio Popular in Corrientes is directed by his sister Amelia and his nephews.
