All-Star Lineup for the 2025 In Conversation With… Series
The milestone 50th edition of TIFF features a high-profile roster of artists participating in the signature interview programming. According to festival announcements, the lineup includes acclaimed director Park Chan-wook, blockbuster star Dwayne Johnson, actor Ryan Reynolds, actress Tessa Thompson, and filmmaker Nia DaCosta. These sessions are designed to give festival-goers a closer look at the artistic processes and professional journeys driving major film projects today.
“As we mark TIFF’s 50th edition, our programming continues to reflect our belief that film and creative expression can spark dialogue, challenge perspectives, and build connection,” said Anita Lee, Chief Programming Officer at TIFF, outlining the goals for the anniversary lineup.
Park Chan-wook and Don McKellar Highlight Auteur Cinema
Director Park Chan-wook anchors a dedicated session presented by the Korean Film Council. Known for striking visuals and tense, genre-defying narratives exploring morality and obsession, Park will discuss the evolution of his career with collaborator Don McKellar. According to festival scheduling details, the conversation will touch upon the making of No Other Choice, a film co-written with McKellar that adds to the director’s 21st-century filmography.
Rising Stars and Special Festival Programming
Beyond the main auteur sessions, the festival expands its reach to younger audiences and community celebrations. TIFF Next Wave hosts the inaugural TIFF: Close-Up conversation, featuring Project Y co-stars Han So-hee and Jun Jong-seo. Programmed specifically for audiences under 25, this event highlights prominent global rising stars.
The schedule also marks the return of the invite-only Black Excellence Brunch, presented by RBC at Petros82 and supported by the Jamaica Tourist Board. Now in its third year, the event celebrates the Black creative community while honoring the 30th anniversary of Planet Africa, a foundational festival program established by Cameron Bailey in 1995.
Additionally, the Criterion Mobile Closet makes its Canadian debut on Festival Street from September 4 to 7, giving the public access to a 1,700-film collection and custom video creation opportunities.
