Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez Get Married in Portugal After Nearly a Decade Together

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez are officially married following an intimate civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, according to People. The ceremony, which included only the couple’s five children, took place on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, exactly one year after Rodríguez publicly announced their engagement on Instagram.

Official Social Media Confirmation and Wedding Rings

The couple confirmed their marriage through a joint Instagram post shared on August 11, 2026. According to Just Jared, the post featured a photograph of the newlyweds dressed in white and displaying wedding bands on their left ring fingers. Within minutes of publishing, the update accumulated over a million likes, echoing the widespread attention the pair commands online.

Prior to this announcement, Rodríguez had shared news of her engagement on August 11, 2025, displaying an engagement ring valued at more than six million euros to her millions of followers. Despite continuous media speculation and rumors regarding a wedding, the couple maintained strict privacy regarding their plans until sharing the wedding day photo.

The Madeira Cathedral Rumor Preceding the Ceremony

The wedding announcement arrived just days after an erroneous gathering outside Funchal Cathedral in Madeira. On August 8, 2026, hundreds of people and members of the media descended upon the cathedral after rumors spread that Ronaldo and Rodríguez were hosting a secret ceremony there. As reported by local observers, a wedding did take place at the location, but it belonged to another couple. Ronaldo and Rodríguez ultimately bypassed the public chaos by hosting their private civil proceedings quietly in Cascais.

Family Attendance in Portugal

According to People, the Cascais ceremony focused entirely on the couple’s immediate family. Ronaldo and Rodríguez are raising five children together: Cristiano Jr., born in 2010; twins Eva and Mateo, born in 2017; Alana Martina, born in November 2017; and Bella Esmeralda. The family experienced a profound loss in April 2022 with the death of Bella Esmeralda’s twin brother, Ángel, during childbirth. The surviving children joined the couple for their wedding milestone in Portugal.

A Relationship Built Across Europe and the Middle East

Ronaldo and Rodríguez first met in 2016 while she was working at a Gucci store in Madrid, where Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid at the time. Their relationship progressed through high-profile moves across Europe as Ronaldo played for Juventus in Turin and Manchester United in Manchester. Currently, the family resides in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where Ronaldo plays as a forward for Al-Nassr. Throughout their nearly decade-long relationship, both have balanced family life with expanding professional careers in modeling, media, and business ventures.
