Former North Carolina guard Seth Trimble is transferring to Louisville for his fifth year of college basketball, giving the Cardinals another veteran piece for an already-stacked roster. His path to Louisville opened following a Colorado district court ruling that granted Class of 2022 high school graduates an extra season of college eligibility. During the 2025-26 season at North Carolina, Trimble averaged 14.0 points and 3.0 assists per game. He also shot 28.6 percent from beyond the arc while earning honorable mention All-ACC honors. After going undrafted in the June NBA draft, Trimble averaged 10.8 points per game for the Washington Wizards during the NBA Summer League. Because he did not sign an official contract with the Wizards, his collegiate eligibility remained intact, allowing him to return to the college game.
### Roster Fit and Tournament Pedigree
At Louisville, Trimble joins a backcourt alongside several notable additions. According to The Louisville Cardinal, the Cardinals’ roster features high-profile incoming talent including Flory Bidunga, Jackson Shelstad, Alvaro Folgueiras, and Karter Knox. Trimble brings proven late-game performance to the Cardinals. During his final season in Chapel Hill, he scored a career-high 30 points in a game against Louisville and hit a buzzer-beating shot to defeat arch-rival Duke. In a message shared on Instagram and cited by The Louisville Cardinal, Trimble explained his departure from Chapel Hill, stating, “I’ve been considering returning to college the whole summer now, and Carolina was always in the running, but with a full roster at UNC, and other circumstances, I wont be able to return home and will be transfering.”
