Leon Ott of MSC Jever-Heidmühle and co-driver Marlon Kolkmann of MSG Sulinger Land secured two podium finishes during an ADAC-supported youth rally event at an airfield near Itzehoe in Hohenlockstedt, according to local motorsport reports. The young duo navigated an intense 90-degree corner course in identical Citroën DS3 R1 rally cars while overcoming a dramatic moment that saw their vehicle briefly lift off the ground.
The competition utilized standardized Citroën DS3 R1 vehicles to ensure strict technical equality across the entire starting grid, as reported by regional media. Built in accordance with regulations set by the Deutscher Motorsport-Bundes (DMSB), all competing machines featured integrated roll cages, automatic fire suppression systems, and bucket seats equipped with six-point harnesses to maximize crew safety.
Consistent Driving Secures Third Place in Opener
Marking their third joint rally appearance, Ott and Kolkmann quickly established a steady rhythm across the technical airfield layout, which featured tight chicanes and narrow passing gates. Avoiding major driving errors during the opening run, the pair captured a third-place finish to claim their maiden podium of the day, according to event coverage.
“I focused my pre-start attention entirely on the track and my co-driver,” Ott stated, as quoted by local reports. “Every moment demands absolute concentration and precision. That’s the only way this result was possible.”
Airborne Moment Precedes Runner-Up Finish
Carrying momentum from their opening success, the team improved their overall stage times during the second run. While approaching a sharp left-hand corner, their rally car briefly left the ground in a spectacular airborne moment. Both drivers maintained vehicle control, successfully managing the hazardous situation to secure a second-place finish, according to published accounts.
The resulting points haul lifted the duo to third place in the overall championship standings heading into the final events of the season. “We’re very satisfied with this placement,” Ott noted in post-race comments. Kolkmann added, “Now we need to defend third place in the championship and qualify for the finals. That’s our target.”
