Pop star Cheryl is reportedly in advanced talks to join the coaching panel of The Voice UK, according to reports published by The Daily Mail. The potential television comeback comes six years after the singer last appeared regularly on UK television screens as a talent show judge.

Cheryl Targets ITV Coaching Role on The Voice UK

According to The Daily Mail, producers behind the ITV singing competition have approached the former Girls Aloud star to fill one of the iconic red chairs. If finalized, the role would mark Cheryl’s first major television judging gig since her stint on BBC’s The Greatest Dancer in 2020 and her long-running role on ITV’s The X Factor.

Industry insiders cited by The Daily Mail indicate that network executives view the singer as a strong draw for viewers as the show looks to refresh its lineup. The production team believes her extensive pop industry experience and mainstream appeal align well with the format of the talent search.

Television History and Prior Coaching Experience

Cheryl first rose to television prominence as a judge on The X Factor, where she mentored winning acts during her initial run from 2008 to 2010, before returning for the 2014 and 2015 series. Her sharp critiques and rapport with contestants established her as a fixture of British Saturday night television.

In 2020, she transitioned to the BBC dance competition The Greatest Dancer, serving as a dance captain alongside Oti Mabuse and Matthew Morrison. Since the conclusion of that series, the performer has largely stepped back from regular television appearances to focus on her family and music projects, including a reunion tour with Girls Aloud in 2024.

What Comes Next for the ITV Series

While network representatives have not yet issued an official confirmation regarding the rumored signing, casting discussions for the next season of The Voice UK are currently underway. Fans and industry analysts await a formal announcement from ITV regarding the complete coaching lineup for the upcoming run.
