Professional wrestler Eddie Kingston has received medical clearance to return to the ring following a health scare that forced him out of All Elite Wrestling’s Continental Challenge Cup, according to an update he provided during a Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre media call.
Kingston was originally scheduled to face Claudio Castagnoli in tournament action on the August 22, 2024, episode of AEW Collision. However, AEW announced one day prior that the former ROH World Champion had not been medically cleared to compete, leading to a replacement being named for the Continental Classic Challenge Cup.
Speaking to media outlets regarding his recovery, Kingston stated that he feels much better after checking out fine following the scare. “I feel good. I feel very good, honestly. I have training later tonight. He added that missing the tournament match against Castagnoli was personally disappointing, noting, “It was a little bit of a scare with my health. I got checked; everything is good, and I got cleared. Once I was cleared, it was, ‘Alright, let’s get to work.’ I’ve been dying to get back to work.”
In-Ring Return Scheduled for CMLL
With his clearance secured, Kingston is wasting no time getting back to active competition.
The championship match was officially promoted by Lucha Libre CMLL via social media, highlighting Kingston’s immediate pursuit of the heavyweight title upon returning to active status.
