South Korea’s DP Rebrands YouTube Channel to ‘Minjoo Party TV’ for Daily Live Broadcasts

The Democratic Party of Korea is overhauling its official YouTube channel, rebranding “Deli Minjoo” as “Minjoo TV” to establish a primary platform for all party-produced news, according to an announcement by party officials. The revamped channel aims to move beyond simple event broadcasting to deliver structured daily programming starting in September.

Pilot Broadcast Schedule and Format

According to Minjoo TV Preparation TF Head Han Woong-hyun, the network will launch a pilot broadcast on September 1, holding four initial test sessions on September 1, 3, 8, and 10. These sessions run from 7:00 a.m. for roughly one hour across two distinct segments covering major party issues and policy directions. Party officials plan to gather viewer and member feedback before opening the full five-day weekly schedule on September 14. Han stated that the new setup is designed to strengthen reliable, preemptive agenda-setting and serve as an active two-way communication platform.

Program Structure and Political Entertainment

Kim Min-seok will appear as a fixed guest on the first segment until the live broadcast stabilizes, delivering the official voice of the party and communicating directly with citizens and members, according to party plans. The second segment features the former main writer team from the political commentary show “Maebulshow,” introducing a mix of sharp political agendas and popular entertainment, known as politainment. Public Relations Committee Chairman Kim Nam-jun stated that Minjoo TV will operate primarily as a platform channel rather than a simple content producer, aiming to function as an open television network that bridges progressive and moderate political spheres.

Public Forum Ecosystem Goals

Public Relations Committee Chairman Kim Nam-jun stated that the network will not compete with existing democratic progressive channels, but will instead cooperate to build a healthy and dignified public forum ecosystem where diverse viewpoints intersect. According to party strategy, Minjoo TV intends to counter algorithm-driven information bubbles by providing rigorously verified primary data, positioning itself as a credible initial news source and a focal point for deliberative democracy.
