Before the Dodgers took the lead, right fielder Kyle Tucker preserved the one-run deficit with a leaping catch at the wall in the top of the eighth inning. Tucker robbed Washington’s Harry Ford of a likely home run to deep right field off relief pitcher Bobby Miller.
Statcast data indicated that field conditions aided the play, with the ball blown in seven feet and pushed 11 feet to the right. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts called the defensive stop a potential difference-maker in the ballgame.
“I think it’s a huge momentum-builder right there,” Miller said. “It’s a big sigh of relief.”

Bobby Miller made his 2026 season debut for the Dodgers after spending most of the year on the injured list due to right shoulder soreness. His primary assignment was to ease the burden on an overworked bullpen.
Miller faced early command struggles amidst rain in the sixth inning, allowing one run on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch. However, he rebounded by retiring six straight batters in the seventh and eighth innings, earning his first winning decision in the majors since August 29, 2024.
“It’s a very difficult road,” Roberts said, “and I give him a lot of credit for continuing to fight and to be a part of this.”

Washington shortstop CJ Abrams hit his 30th home run of the season with a solo shot in the fourth inning off Dodgers starting pitcher Justin Wrobleski.
