Météo-France attributes the conditions to an oceanic cold front moving in from the west, which is colliding with a persistent mass of hot air anchored over southern France.

On Tuesday, temperatures reached 30°C in Rodez and climbed between 33°C and 35°C in the valleys of South Aveyron around Millau and Saint-Affrique, according to Météo-France data.
