Crown Heights’ Biarritz Restaurant Switches to Lakewood Kashrus Certification

The establishment previously dropped Crown Heights Kosher (CHK) and briefly utilized National Kosher Supervision before making this latest transition.

Transition to Vaad Kashrus Mehadrin

According to CrownHeights.info, the establishment announced its recent certification switch in a statement to patrons. “We are pleased to share an important update regarding our kashrus supervision,” the restaurant stated, noting that VKM is guided by Rabbi Tzvi Altusky. Vaad Kashrus Mehadrin holds endorsements from rabbinic leaders including HaRav Noach Isaac Oelbaum and HaRav Elya Brudny, as reported by CrownHeights.info.

Vaad Kashrus Mehadrin was established in 2019 following requests from rabbinic figures in and around Lakewood, New Jersey, with the goal of maintaining the standards of the Lakewood community, according to CrownHeights.info. VKM certifies various Tri-State area establishments and has provided supervision for large events such as the Kinus Shluchim, the Torah Umesorah National Convention, and JLI Lubavitch Summer Programs.

Prior Certification History

The update follows a series of changes to the restaurant’s supervision agency. According to CrownHeights.info, Biarritz initially dropped Crown Heights Kosher (CHK) and switched to National Kosher Supervision under Rabbi Aaron D. Mehlman.
