Administrative Delays Strand Vulnerable Students
The core issue lies with the Consejería de Educación. Through its provincial directorates, the department must authorize contracted companies to hire monitors. Without timely greenlights, these firms cannot staff up for students with special educational needs from the very first day of the academic term.
According to FeSMC-UGT CyL, this administrative backlog leaves vulnerable children without required support. It also dangerously overburdens existing staff.
A Predictable Backlog Ignored by Officials
User registrations are communicated by May. Despite this lead time, the administration routinely delays processing authorizations past the start of the school year.
The consequence is compromised service quality and safety in school dining halls across the region.
Formal Warnings Meet Silence
Union officials are calling on the regional education administration to issue immediate instructions to all provincial directorates to clear pending hires.
Bureaucratic hurdles should not block critical services for children who require specific educational support, the union insists. UGT confirmed it submitted formal written warnings ahead of the school term. It received no response.
No Tolerance for Institutional Neglect
The lack of communication has prompted the organization to issue a stark warning. UGT states it will not allow this institutional neglect to become normalized.
