A 26-year-old pet-care worker named Suraj Shankar Dole was beaten to death in Goregaon by his friend following a dispute over clothes and personal belongings, according to local law enforcement. The Goregaon police have launched a search for the suspect, Babasaheb alias Subodh Bhimrao Waghmare, who fled the scene following the late-night assault on September 8.
Incident Details and Police Investigation
The fatal confrontation occurred around 11:30 p.m. near King’s Studios on S.V. Suraj Shankar Dole, whose parents Shankar Raghoji Dole and Mahadevi Dole reside in Mira Road, worked in the local pet-care sector. After finishing his daytime work, he routinely stayed near a Hanuman temple at night.
Investigators stated that the suspect, Waghmare, also worked in animal care and lived in the Goregaon area. Over the preceding days, Suraj had allegedly been using Waghmare’s clothes and other personal belongings without permission. Tensions escalated on Tuesday when Suraj reportedly took a bag containing Waghmare’s clothes, prompting an angry confrontation later that night.
During the argument near King’s Studios, the dispute turned physical. Police said Waghmare brutally assaulted Suraj and struck him in the face with a paving stone found at the location, leaving him critically injured before escaping.
Discovery of the Body and Legal Action
Suraj succumbed to his injuries the following day, as he did not receive timely medical treatment. A witness, Sunil Ambika Prasad Pande, was reportedly present during the initial assault but fled the scene after Waghmare escaped. Pande returned to the location the next day, found Suraj motionless, and subsequently alerted Suraj’s father along with the Goregaon police.

Police arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and sent it to a hospital for examination. Based on a formal complaint filed by Shankar Dole, the Goregaon police registered a murder case against Babasaheb alias Subodh Bhimrao Waghmare.
