Irish folk trio Amble has secured their first number-one single on the Official Irish Singles Chart with “The Swell,” ending an eleven-week consecutive run at the top for Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s “Rein Me In,” according to RTE.ie.
The Chart Milestone for “The Swell”
The single serves as the tenth track on the band’s upcoming second album, Love and All Its Wares, which is scheduled for release on January 29, 2027. The track has already achieved platinum certification after being previewed live at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry on June 11.
The number-one placement halts the extended run of “Rein Me In” by Sam Fender and Olivia Dean. That track spent eleven consecutive weeks at the summit, accumulating 18 weeks at number one overall—a run that tied Bill Whelan’s “Riverdance” for the most weeks spent at the top in the history of the Irish charts.
Production and Band Background
Recording for the trio’s second LP took place over three weeks in April 2026 at Grouse Lodge Recording Studios in County Westmeath. Philip Weinrobe produced the album; his previous production credits include work with Adrianne Lenker of Big Thief, Tomberlin, and Theo Katzman.

Amble consists of Robbie Cunningham from Leitrim on vocals and guitar, Ross McNerney from Longford on mandolin, bouzouki, and banjo, and Oisín McCaffrey from Sligo on guitar and vocals. The three musicians formed the group in 2022 after leaving their day jobs.
The trio’s debut LP, Reverie, was released by Warner Records in May 2025, entering the Irish charts at number one. It became the most-streamed Irish album of that year and remained within the top 10 of the Albums Chart, sitting at number three. Following that release, Amble won the RTÉ Choice Music Prize awards for Single of the Year with “Schoolyard Days” and Breakthrough Artist of the Year, subsequently closing out 2025 with three sold-out performances at Dublin’s 3Arena.
