Bodie Kahoun Injury Update: Boston College LB Taken Off Field in Ambulance

Boston College linebacker Bodie Kahoun has movement in all extremities after suffering an injury during the first half of a game against Rutgers on September 11, 2026, according to official statements from Boston College. The redshirt sophomore was treated on the field for several minutes by medical staff before being stretchered into an ambulance.

Incident Details on the Field

The injury occurred in the first half of the non-conference matchup when Kahoun was helping make a tackle. According to USA TODAY, another Boston College defender arrived to assist on the play, and his knee collided with Kahoun’s upper body and appeared to strike the back of Kahoun’s head. Kahoun went down to the turf and remained on his back for several minutes while trainers and medical personnel rushed to his side.

According to ESPN, medical staff placed a neck brace on Kahoun, strapped him to a board, and loaded him onto a stretcher. An ambulance was driven directly onto the field near the 50-yard line to transport him. As he was being loaded into the vehicle, Kahoun gave a thumbs-up sign to the crowd, which drew a loud ovation from attendees.

Hospital Evaluation and Team Response

During halftime of the game, Boston College announced via an official post on X that Kahoun “has movement in all extremities and is being taken to a local hospital for further evaluation,” as reported by USA TODAY. Boston College players were observed kneeling and standing around Kahoun on the field while he received initial medical attention.

Following the game, Boston College coach Bill O’Brien addressed the situation with reporters. “It looks like there’s some hope there with the feeling in his extremities,” O’Brien said, according to the Boston Globe. O’Brien also noted to ESPN that Kahoun is “an awesome guy” and that the incident was “very tough” for the team.

Game Context and Status

The game between Boston College and Rutgers was temporarily halted during the medical response. At halftime, Boston College held a 20-7 lead, eventually securing a 28-21 victory, according to ESPN. The matchup took place as Boston College honored the 25th anniversary of 9/11 victims with special uniforms, part of the program’s annual Red Bandanna Game tradition.
